Phillip Patrone, DDS, MS

Dr. Phillip Lee Patrone was born in 1964.  He was raised in Ohio where he attended private prep school at Linsly Institute.  After majoring in Mechanical Engineering for his undergraduate work, he earned a degree from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry.  He then went on to complete a General Practice Residency/Surgical Internship at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center.

Dr. Patrone is a Certified Dental Anesthesiologist and is trained to administer General Anesthesia and Intravenous Sedation.  He earned his Certificate of Dental Anesthesiology from Metro-Health Medical Center and has also lectured at Case Western Reserve University in dental anesthesia.  Dr. Patrone was selected over 100 applicants to complete a two year Formal Medical Anesthesia residency.  Dr. Patrone is the only periodontist and Certified Dental Anesthesiologist in the country.   Along with the above education and experience, Dr. Patrone is Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified and an instructor in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Dr. Patrone received his degrees in Periodontology and Dental Implantology, in addition to his Masters of Science, from the University of Iowa.       

Dr. Patrone is an instructor teaching the local anesthesia certification courses to dental hygiene students at Harper College as well as hygienists from the surrounding Chicago area.

Dr. Patrone’s advanced residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical procedures allows him to restore lost bone for future implants with the use of sinus lift techniques and onlay bone grafting procedures. 

Dr. Patrone utilizes growth factors (platelet-rich plasma) to enhance the body’s own natural wound healing response to accelerate implant integration and repair periodontal defects around teeth. Dr. Patrone’s training in anesthesiology has afforded patients the comfort and confidence with growth factor techniques.

Dr. Patrone treats and lectures regarding all types of periodontal disease ranging from esthetic periodontal plastic surgery to severe gum infections and boneloss.

Dr. Patrone lectures extensively on dental implants.  Dr. Patrone treats single as well as multiple implant cases, in addition to immediate implants.  Dr. Patrone has been placing immediate implants for over 10 years using multiple implant systems.

Dr. Patrone is a member of the American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, Midwest Society of Periodontology, American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, American Association of Hospital Dentists, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Academy of Osseointegration, and International Congress of Oral Implantologists.


Stanley E. Treitler, DDS

Dr. Stan Treitler was born in 1952 and raised in Wilmette, IL.  He grew up in Wilmette, graduating from New Trier High School in 1970.  Stan’s early passion in life was baseball and he spent his undergraduate collegiate days at Tulane University on a baseball scholarship.

Equally as passionate about periodontics, Stan began his dental training in 1973 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in dentistry from the University of Illinois.  He stayed at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry through 1979 also earning his postgraduate degree in Periodontics.

Dr. Treitler began his private practice in Arlington Heights in 1978 and opened a second office in Bloomingdale in 1980.  Since Dr’s Sandroff and Dr. Patrone have become partners in Advanced Periodontics offices have been added in Vernon Hills and Barrington.

Early in his career, Dr. Treitler was an assistant professor at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry.  He has served as past president of the Arlington Heights and Bloomingdale Study Clubs.  Dr. Treitler continues to be an active member of The American Dental Association, The Academy of Periodontology, The Midwest Society of Periodontology and The Illinois Society of Periodontology.

Dr. Treitler continually enhances his surgical expertise through various continuing education courses and is well trained in multiple implant systems. He has also extensively lectured and organized continuing education seminars for his dental colleagues.

He currently lives in Highland Park, Illinois with his wife, while his son, Michael attends college at Indiana University. His older son you might recognize as Bryan Scary of Bryan Scary and the Shredding Tears Band.



Terry M. Sandroff, DDS, MS

Dr. Terry Sandroff was born in 1958.  He was raised in Morton Grove, attending Niles West High School.  He graduated college from Champaign and subsequently completed his dental training at the University of Illinois.  Dr. Sandroff received his periodontal degree as well as Masters of Science from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1986, graduating Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.

Terry has given over 150 lectures both locally and regionally to dental groups, The University of Illinois Dental School, hygiene societies and at the American Academy of Periodontology National meeting. Terry is also a member of many local and regional dental societies including the Northern Illinois Dental Specialists Study Club, which is an elite group of 15 specialists who meet quarterly to discuss complex comprehensive surgical cases.  He has been trained in multiple implant systems and considers implants an integral part of daily Periodontics.

In 1990, Dr. Sandroff was also honored to be asked by Proctor & Gamble to teach all Chicagoland periodontists how and when to use a prototype non-surgical material to treat periodontal disease which gained wide recognition and is commonly used today.  The fact that he was part of this groundbreaking non-surgical study, exemplifies his philosophy of conservative treatment if at all possible.

He also has been part of the Hygiene Externship Program at Harper College, in which senior hygiene students spent a day with Dr. Sandroff and his staff to experience the real world of Periodontics.

He currently lives with his wife and daughter in Buffalo Grove, his son attends college at the University of Illinois as well.
